LIST OF COUNTRIES/CITIES PLEDGING TO PROVIDE RELIEF ASSISTANCE
TO THE VICTIMS OF THE EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI IN NAD AND NORTH SUMATRA

·   Five  C130 Hercules (Four aircrafts of Australian AF and one of NZ AF) and one  Boeing 747 to carry assistances

The Aircrafts are already in Aceh

 

·   10 crew of medical team

 

2 Australian medical teams are on the way to disaster areas near Aceh

 

·   60 tons of humanitarian aids and special equipment such as generator (will also send

 

 

-    Providing a transportable emergency hospital with the capacity of 90 beds

 

-    One Antonov aircraft and three helicopters Iriquois

 

-    Cooling Units to preserve dead bodies

 

HMAS Kanimbla carrying helipcopters and technicians will arrive in Indonesia on Monday (3/12/04)

 

2.       

Belgium

-    Logistics, 4 Medical professionals and medical supplies

Military aircraft A 310 will transport  medical supplies directly to Aceh via Medan

3.       

Canada

-    Pledging a CAD $ 4 million aid and one aircraft to transport relief equipments such as medical equipments, tents, balnket, water sanitatiopn equipment.

-    US $ 100,000 from the Staff of Canadian 

   Embassy in Jakarta

-           

The assistance will be distributed directly on regional basis.

4.       

Chile

Pledging to provide a team of 4 doctors, 1 paramedics and 1 enviromentalist

 

The team will arrive in Medan on 4/1/05

5.       

European Union

Pledging Euro 30 million in aid for all effected countries

Details will be provided later

6.       

France

One Helicopter

Details will be provided later

7.       

India

Will provide a floating hospital

The hospital is scheduled to operate on Monday, the latest.

8.       

Iran

A 41 tons aid package containing blankets, medicines, shelter, carpets etc

The first aid will be transported by Emirates Airlines from Tehran to Medan . Departing on Dec, 28 2004 at 04.00 am

9.       

Japan

US$ 1,87 million emergency goods and equipments comprising, such as generator sets, tents, blanket, mattress, water purifier, water tank as well as drinking water, food and fried oil.

 

 

 

 

 

A US$ 370,000 aid package will be sent to Medan on December 30th, 2004 ,consisting of :

-             US $ 250,000 worth of generator sets, tents, blanket, mattress, water purifier, water tank and plastic tank.

-             US $ 120,000 worth of drinking water, food and fried  oil

The remaining aid  of US $ 1,5 million will be  be allocated for to Medan area right after the exchanging note done on January 4th, 2005

10.   

Malaysia

Offers SMART Expeditions (Special Malaysian Rescue Team) with ambulance car, land cruiser, and other heavy equipment to locate the victims.

 

The team consists of 30 people that already left Malaysian air force-base-camp in Subang on December 28th , 2004 .

11.   

New Zealand

-       One C130 Hercules of the New Zealand Air Force

The Aircraft is already in Aceh

12.   

People’s Republic of China

-    a US $ 600,000  aid consisting of food, tents, blankets, mattres, canned fish, sardine, Plastic Package food of mutton, chicken and beef.

This assistance will be transported by one Boeing 747, will land in Medan in 30/12/04 at 20.00 

 

 

-    35 crew of  SAR team  and 7 tons of equipment

This assistance will be transported by one Boeing 747, will land in Medan in 30/12/04 at 22.00

 

13.   

Philippines

Medical Assistances and supplies

Indonesian government will provide the list of specialist doctors/ medical professional needed

14.   

Qatar

-    Goods (depends on people’s needs) equals to US$ 1 to 2 million.

-    A total package of US$ 10 million aid for all effected countries

Waiting for information from the Indonesia Government about the details of needs

15.   

Regional Government of Seoul , South Korea

US$ 100,000  and a team of  20 medical officers

-   the team is ready to leave but still waiting for the administration completion.

-    5 people will arrive tomorrow evening. ( 31 December 2004 )

 

16.   

Republic of Korea

With  total aid US$ 150,000 + SAR Team/Medical Team + NGO.  The Embassy decided to add US$ 50,000. So, the total amount of aid become US$ 200,000 now.

 

 

Will be sent directly to the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for People’s Welfare via BNI of Harmoni with account no. 070.003112717.911

17.   

Saudi Arabia

US$ 10 million for all countries hit by tsunami.

Aid will be distributed through ICRC and Saudi Arabia Red Crescent.

18.   

Singapura

-    Pledged to offer assistance for Rescue and Rehabilitation operation

-    Additional aid of two Super Puma helicopter and two Chinook.

-    One C-130 carrying medical supplies as part of US $ 2 million aid to all effected countries.

 

-       Four Helicopters are already in Aceh

-       Landing ship tank (LST) carrying heavy equipment and helicopters pad will arrive today (30/12/04)

-       C-130 carrying medical team arrived in 28 December

-       Fokker carrying medical supplies and additional medical team arrive today

19.   

Spain

Offering assistance for Rescue and Rehabilitation operation and various basic needs

Details will be provided later

20.   

Taiwan

Goods equals to US$ 200,000

Taiwan Medical Team has already been in the location

21.   

Tunis

-    2 cargo flight

-    1 cargo flight

- Two C-130 planes carrying humanitarian aid

- One C-130 plane carrying humanitarian aid

22.   

United Kingdom

-    10.000 boxes of medical supplies

-    3 humanitarian workers

 

The assistance will be chaneled through WHO

23.   

United States :

US Agency for International Development (USAID)

- A total US $ 7 million of various kind of aid including food, water, medicine, shelters.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

-    Some of the aid arrived 29/12

 

-    The assistance has been channeled through USAID or through NGOs and WFP, including

- 100,000 unit of water treatment kits via CARE

- 500 tons of rice (worth of $ 250,000) through WFP

- plastic sheeting for temporary shelter via USAID

- US$ 1 million in funding to be provided by USAID to several NGOs (including basic human needs and small generators)

 

 

 

-    Pledge US $ 32 million of assistance on regional basis

 

The US government will examine  the needs in the days ahead
