The Government of the Republic of Indonesia would like to express gratitude and highly appreciate the condolences sent by the President of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Mr. Ivan Gasparovic to all the victims of the earthquake disaster that hit Yogyakarta on the 27 May 2006. The Government of Indonesia welcomes the international aids and assistance for the victims. More than 29 (twenty nine) countries have pledged aids to Indonesia. The UN bodies; the World Food Programs and UNICEF have sent aids to Indonesia. The French Government is sending second plane full of humanitarian aids to Indonesia. The US Government will donate US$100.000 through USAid and allocated emergency assistance worth US$2.5 million. The Netherlands pledged Euro 1 million. The Government of Canada has committed US$1.8 million. The Government of Spain allocated Euro 500.000. Slovakia contributes to the EU aids which allocate the sum of Euro 3 million to the earthquake victims. The Australian Government pledged US$2.27 million. South Korean Government sent medical team and aid worth US$2 million. China sending 44 medical teams and offered US$ 2 million of aid. Japan sent medical teams and allocated US$10 million of humanitarian aid. Britain offered US$ 5.5 million and Ireland, Belgium and Greece respectively donated US$1.5 million. Pakistan, Italy, Denmark, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia have already sent their assistance to Indonesia. The Indonesian Foreign Ministry, in coordination with the Indonesian Embassies throughout the world, is mobilizing humanitarian aids and international assistance for the victims in Indonesia. The Indonesian citizens abroad has sent donation through their representatives. Due to the limited capacity, the types of aircraft for the humanitarian aids that can be accommodated in Yogyakarta Airport are Boeing 737 200/300/400 series, Hercules, M.D. 82/83 series. The Government of Indonesia in coordination with the United Nations, the locals and International NGOs is currently distributing aid and treating the wounded survivors including those who live in the remote areas hit by the quake. The medical emergency aid preferably antibiotic, food for children, blanket and tents are badly needed. According to the data released by Task Force for Relief Efforts for the Earthquake Disaster (Satkorlak PB) as of 29 May 2006, 21.30 pm CET, the number of people died 5.152. The number of homeless survivors 200.000. The total damage estimated has reached 2.8 million USD. Total house and building collapsed 20.103 units. Total house and building damaged 26.699 units. One Dutch Nationality, Mr. Bodewijn Brands, age 58, died in Sarjito Hospital in Yogyakarta, and so far was the only foreigner reported as the victim of the disaster. The Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has sent liaison officers to help relief efforts and to assist international aid workers-foreign journalists in Yogyakarta and Solo.
