Indonesian urged
Myanmar
to avoid violent acts against public demonstration
It was reported form New York that Indonesian
Foreign Minister, Dr Hassan Wirajuda stated that Indonesian
Government follows with concern the current political situation in
Myanmar and urged Myanmar Government not to use violent acts in
responding to peaceful demonstration in Myanmar as that would not
only cause further harm to the people of Myanmar, but also to
ASEAN. Massive public demonstration in Myanmar, according to the
minister, has shown that democratic process through road map to
democracy in
Myanmar has not yet shown real
progress.
The Minister also said that ASEAN Foreign
Minister will convene meeting in New York
to discuss the ASEAN Charter, but the Ministers may also use this
opportunity ask Myanmar
to explain this current situation in Myanmar. (Antara News Agency,
