PROCEDURE OF POLICE DURING TRAFFIC ACCIDENT OF A FOREIGNER
Procedure during traffic accident of a foreign national or with a foreign vehicle is regulated by an internal rule of the Police Force Presidium of the Slovak Republic. Police officer is to perform the actions as follows:
During each traffic accident with participation of a foreign national or with a foreign vehicle, the police officer asks for submitting the document on payment of responsibility insurance provided the driver is obliged to have such a document with him, under a special rule. If the foreigner shows international insurance card, the police officer will verify if it is valid in the territory of the Slovak Republic and if the card is signed. The data established (name, validity and number of document on payment of responsibility insurance) will be recorded by him in the document on accidents in the road traffic or in the record on traffic accidents.
If the foreign vehicle is damaged and there is a necessity to manipulate with the load due to the traffic accident, the respective customs office will be informed of it.
If the foreign vehicle is damaged, the police officer always issues the confirmation to the driver that the Police Force was informed of the traffic accident and that the traffic accident was being clarified by the Police Force.
The confirmation includes, in particular:
date and place of issuance of confirmation,
date, time and place of traffic accident,
production mark and registration number of vehicle, name and address of possessor of the vehicle, name and address of driver of the vehicle in time of traffic accident,
detailed description of the damaged parts of a vehicle,
stamp of the Police Force unit by whom the traffic accident was clarified and signature of the police officer by whom the confirmation was issued and its identification number.
